Keppel Shipyard has secured two contracts worth a total of S$146 million to convert a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit as well as to fabricate and integrate an external turret mooring system for an existing FPSO unit.

The first contract is from Single Buoy Moorings Inc (SBM) for the conversion of the Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) M/T Concorde Spirit into a FPSO facility, to be named FPSO OSX-2. SBM had been engaged by OSX Brasil to supply the FPSO, which is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2013 and will be deployed in the OGX Petroleo e Gas Participacoes S.A. (OGX) field in Campos Basin, offshore Brazil.

Keppel Shipyard's work scope on FPSO OSX-2 comprises refurbishment and life extension works, accommodation block extensions for 80 personnel, a new flare tower, a new internal turret mooring system and topside module supports, as well as the installation and integration of topside modules. Work on the vessel is expected to commence in September 2011.

Other ongoing projects between Keppel Shipyard and SBM include the fast-track modification and upgrading of the FPSO Cidade de Anchieta and the conversion of the FPSO Cidade de Paraty, which will subsequently proceed to Keppel FELS Brasil's BrasFELS for installation and integration of topsides. Keppel Shipyard is also undertaking modification and upgrading work on OSX's first vessel, FPSO OSX-1.

Keppel Shipyard's second contract is for the fast-track fabrication and integration of an external turret mooring system for Rubicon Offshore International Pte Ltd (Rubicon Offshore).

FPSO Rubicon Intrepid is currently engaged in the production of Galoc Field, west of Palawan Island, the Philippines. Fabrication of the turret is expected to be completed and integrated to the FPSO in the fourth quarter of this year.

The above contracts are not expected to have any material impact on the net tangible assets and earnings per share of Keppel Corporation Limited for the current financial year.

Keppel FELS Limited (Keppel FELS) has secured a repeat order from Transocean Offshore Deepwater Holdings Ltd, a subsidiary of Transocean Ltd. (Transocean) for US $195 million.

Following its order of two jackup rigs from Keppel FELS on February 17, 2011, Transocean is exercising its option to build another high specification jackup rig based on the KFELS Super B Class Bigfoot design for delivery in 3Q 2013.

Mr. Wong Kok Seng, Managing Director of Keppel FELS said, "We are pleased that Transocean has chosen to exercise their option in building another jackup rig to our proprietary design. We have developed a winning collaboration with Transocean over the years through numerous projects. In working with forward thinking customers, we are able to customize innovative products well suited to meet the needs of the market."

Tailored to suit Transocean's requirements, the KFELS Super B Class Bigfoot is designed with larger spud cans, expanding its operational coverage to more places, especially areas where soft soil is predominant. Having larger spud cans enables the unit to operate efficiently while minimizing potential leg penetration problems in soft soil conditions.

With a 1.5 million pound drilling system and a maximum combined cantilever load of 3,200 kips, the Super B Class Bigfoot features immense horsepower during drilling operations. In addition, the rig will be installed with offline stand building features in its drilling system package which allows drilling and the preparation of drill pipes to take place at the same time. The rig is capable of drilling at a 75 feet outreach, allowing for coverage of a larger well pattern.

Keppel FELS and Transocean have shared a long-standing partnership spanning several significant projects. In 2009, Keppel delivered Transocean's Development Driller III, an ultra-deepwater drilling semisubmersible rig built to Keppel's proprietary DSSTM 51 semisubmersible design. Other projects include upgrades and conversions of the Sedco 700-series semis to enable dynamic positioning, and the repair of various Transocean rigs.

The above contract is not expected to have material impact on the net tangible assets or earnings per share of Keppel Corporation Limited for the current financial year.

Keppel FELS is on track to deliver Scarabeo 9, a 6th generation ultra-deepwater semisubmersible drilling rig, to Saipem S.p.A (Saipem) on time and with no lost time incidents.

A significant part of Keppel FELS' workscope on Scarabeo 9 involved the completion and commissioning of marine and drilling systems onboard.

The rig was named by Lady Sponsor, Mrs. Anna Tatka, spouse of Mr. Pietro Franco Tali, CEO of Saipem.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tali said, "With Keppel's proven track record, we were confident of receiving a rig of the highest quality delivered on time and in a safe manner. This sixth generation rig will be an important addition to our fleet as we expand our foothold to be one of the best balanced turnkey operators in the offshore and marine industry."

The Frigstad D90 semisubmersible rig is equipped with a Dynamic Positioning 3 system and will be capable of operating in water depths of up to 3,600 meters.

Keppel Shipyard Ltd's (Keppel Shipyard) conversion of the FPSO Aseng is on track to complete. The FPSO will be operated by Aseng Production Company Ltd, a joint venture by SBM Offshore and Compania Nacional de Petroleo de Guinea Ecuatorial (GEPetrol), the national oil company of Equatorial Guinea.

Chartered by Noble Energy for the development of the Aseng field in offshore Equatorial Guinea, FPSO Aseng is capable of processing 80,000 barrels of oil per day and storing approximately 1.7 million barrels of oil.

HE Marcelino Owono Edu, Minister of Mines, Industry and Energy of Equatorial Guinea, witnessed the naming of the FPSO by his daughter, Señorita Doña Ayingono Owono Nchama, at Keppel Shipyard today.

Mr Tony Mace, Managing Director and CEO of SBM Offshore, commented, "We are honoured to be able to contribute to the growth of Equatorial Guinea's oil and gas industry. Through the strong teamwork between SBM and Keppel Shipyard, we add yet another quality vessel to our fleet of FPSOs."

Since 2000, Keppel and SBM have completed 13 FPSO/FSO conversion projects together. FPSO Aseng is the second FPSO project which Keppel Shipyard and SBM are delivering for Equatorial Guinea.

Keppel Singmarine Brasil (KSM Brasil), Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M)'s new 7.6-ha shipbuilding facility in the state of Santa Catarina, has secured two newbuild contracts worth about S$140 million from fleet operators in Brazil.

The first contract entails building a series of six 45-tonne bollard pull twin-screw Azimuth Stern Drive (ASD) harbour tugboats, for REBRAS - Rebocadores do Brasil S.A. (SMIT Rebras).

In the second contract, the yard will construct a large-sized 4500dwt Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) based on its proprietary MTD 9045P-DE design for Keppel O&M's Brazilian ship-owning arm, Guanabara Navegacao.This is the first vessel constructed under the business model to build Offshore Support Vessels in anticipation of demand in Brazil, and such vessels will be offered for bare-boat charter or sale upon completion.

KSM Brasil specialises in constructing Offshore Support Vessels such as Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessels, PSVs, Oil Recovery Support Vessels and harbour/terminal tugboats.

The new facility in Brazil is also able to fabricate offshore steel structures and support major projects undertaken by Keppel's BrasFELS yard in Angra dos Reis.

Mr. Hoe Eng Hock, Executive Director of KSM Brasil shared, "Petrobras will need over 100 Brazilian-built offshore support vessels by 2020, to facilitate the exploration and development of the Santos Basin's deep water pre-salt fields. We see a growing market for purpose-built support vessels that can operate safely and efficiently offshore Brazil.

"Keppel Singmarine has been building harbour tugs for the global fleet of Smit in Singapore and China Nantong for the past 20 years. With the award of six harbour tugs contract, the relationship and partnership between Smit and Keppel has deepened and expanded to the new frontier in Brazil."

KSM Brasil's scope for the six tugboats includes detailed design and engineering work and the purchase of all equipment. The first tugboat will be delivered in 4Q2012, followed by the remaining five at three-month intervals. These Robert Allan-designed tugboats will be deployed by SMIT Rebras to work at key ports across Brazil.

Meanwhile, GNL's 4500 dwt PSV is slated for completion in 2013. The PSV is custom-designed by Keppel's Marine Technology Development unit to meet the stringent requirements of Petrobras. The unique arrangement of the PSV's internal tanks and systems enable it to transport a wide combination of oil-based and water-based bulk cargoes for offshore exploration and production.

This ABS Classed PSV spans 94.2m long and 19.8m wide. It features a large deadweight capacity in excess of 4,500 tonne and a deck space of 1000sqm which can accommodate 26 crew members. Equipped with a diesel-electric propulsion system and dynamic positioning (DP) 2 capability, this PSV is well suited to operate in different offshore conditions.

Keppel FELS has been awarded a contract worth about US $260 million by returning customer, Floatel International Ltd (Floatel), to build a new generation accommodation semisubmersible (semi) for delivery in 1Q 2014.

This new rig developed by Keppel O&M's Deepwater Technology Group, will be built to the SSAU4000NG design with Dynamic Positioning (DP) 3 capability. It marks Keppel FELS' third accommodation semi project with Floatel, after the delivery of Floatel Reliance (SSAUTM 3600 with DP2) and Floatel Superior (DSSTM 20NS with DP3) last year.

The SSAU4000NG is an enhancement of the proven SSAUTM 3600 design, with improved capability and operability. It meets the stringent UK HSE requirements to work in the UK sector of the North Sea as well as the Gulf of Mexico, Brazil and Western Australia.

Equipped with state of the art accommodation and recreational facilities, the SSAU4000NG provides increased comfort for the 500 persons it can accommodate in one-man and two-man cabins.

Mr. Peter Jacobssen, Chief Executive Officer of Floatel International Ltd said, "What Keppel FELS has built for us previously have been well received by the market. Featuring the latest technology such as DP3 and enhanced Station-Keeping, the SSAU4000NG is capable of operating alongside fixed platforms, floating platforms and Floating Production Storage and Offloading Vessels, with a full complement of deck cranes and fire fighting capabilities.

Floating accommodation platforms are needed to provide additional living quarters for drilling and production personnel. Such support is required during hook-up and commissioning in the development phase, for maintenance and upgrading during the production phase, as well as for decommissioning.

Well-timed with market demand, the two Floatel rigs delivered in 2010 have been chartered for work - Floatel Reliance to Petrobras for five years in Brazil's Campos Basin and Floatel Superior to Statoil in Norway's Oseberg field.

Keppel FELS' track record for designing and building accommodation semis also includes the delivery of Prosafe's Safe Concordia in 2005. Safe Concordia, which can accommodate 400 persons, has been chartered to Petrobras for work in Brazil.

The latest newbuild contract is not expected to have any material impact on the net tangible assets and earnings per share of Keppel Corporation Limited for the current financial year.

Keppel is on track to deliver its latest Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) project, Armada TGT 1, to Bumi Armada Berhad (Bumi Armada).

Mr. Nelson Yeo, MD of Keppel Shipyard, said, "We would like to thank our valued customer Bumi Armada for entrusting Keppel Shipyard with the conversion of all their FPSOs.

"The success of any complex conversion project depends on the trust and teamwork between a shipyard and its customers. Keppel Shipyard was privileged to have the full support of Bumi Armada in the safe and timely execution of Armada TGT 1, for which we had provided a full range of conversion services, including the fabrication of the topsides and turret."

Armada TGT 1 will be deployed in the Te Giac Trang (TGT or White Rhinoceros) oil field, in Vietnam's Cuu Long Basin, for Hoang Long Joint Operating Company. This FPSO is expected to strike first oil in the third quarter 2011. At full capacity, the unit will be able to produce 55,000 barrels of oil per day and store 620,000 barrels of oil.

Mr. Hassan Basma, Executive Director and CEO of Bumi Armada, elaborated on the vessel's specifications, "This FPSO has been specifically designed to process difficult crude with a low wax appearance temperature and to withstand, sustain and remain moored under 100 year return environmental conditions including cyclones and tsunamis prevalent offshore Vietnam; this too in shallow waters of less than 43 meters. The completed topside is more than 12,000 tonnes and incorporates state-of-the-art technologies and a different layout to similar class FPSO resulting in a lighter topside and improved operability and safety considerations."

The consortium of Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M) and Technip Engenharia S/A is on track to deliver the P-56 Floating Production Unit (FPU) to Petrobras Netherlands BV (PNBV), safely, on time and within budget.

The first FPU completely built in Brazil, P-56 achieved 9 million man-hours without lost time incidents. With a displacement of 50,000 tonnes, this massive FPU, one of the world's largest, measures 110 meters in length and width, and 125 meters in height.

Brazilian President HE Dilma Rouseff witnessed the christening of P-56 by congresswoman Luiza Erundina at Keppel FELS Brasil's BrasFELS shipyard in Angra dos Reis. Also present were the Governor of Rio de Janeiro, Mr Sergio Cabral, Petrobras' President Mr Jose Sergio Gabrielli, Keppel's management and over 8,000
Brazilian shipyard workers.

Mr Choo Chiau Beng, Chairman of Keppel O&M and non-resident Ambassador of Singapore to Brazil said, "P-56 is a shining example of the technology expertise and execution capabilities built up by BrasFELS and Brazil's offshore and marine industry. This achievement has been built up incrementally through previous projects such as the P-52 and P-51 FPUs. Today, we have turned vision into reality in establishing Brazil as a center for world class shipbuilding, with the first 100% Brazilian-built rig.

"We are proud to be able to support Brazil and Petrobras as they grow their fleet of highly capable production units. Through our near market, near customer strategy, Keppel remains committed to Brazil and her comprehensive oil and gas development program to increase output from Brazilian oil fields with significant local content."

When completed, P-56 will be capable of processing and treating 170,000 barrels of liquids and 100,000 barrels of 16º API oil, 6 million cubic meters of natural gas, and of injecting some 280,000 barrels of water in the reservoir. P-56 will be positioned at depths of 1,670 meters off the Marlim Sul field in the Campos basin.

P-56 is another significant milestone in a series of firsts achieved by Keppel in Brazil since its BrasFELS yard was established in 2000. Notably, BrasFELS carried out the first ever in-country FPSO conversion of P-48 and delivered the P-52, the first project for which Petrobras imposed a minimum 60% local content requirement.

This was followed by the delivery of P-51 in 2008 and the Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessel (FPSO), P-57, in October 2010. P-51, P-52 and P-57 were done in collaboration with Keppel's yards in Singapore and the synergy enabled significant technological and knowledge transfers to Brazil.

Mr. Choo added, "We have a longstanding partnership with Brazil having delivered 19 major projects since 1994 for the country, five of which were completed in BrasFELS. Over the years, we have been equipping BrasFELS and training our workers to take on more sophisticated jobs. Gulf Drilling International Ltd. (q.s.c.) (GDI) of Qatar has awarded contracts to Keppel FELS Limited (Keppel FELS) to build two high-specification KFELS B Class Bigfoot jack-up rigs from returning customer, worth about US$393 million.

These latest contracts follow closely after Keppel FELS was awarded a new-build jack-up rig contract by one of GDI's Shareholders, Japan Drilling Company, in March this year.

Scheduled for delivery in the third quarters of 2013 and 2014, the two latest rigs mark GDI's first new orders in six years, and will increase the company's jackup fleet count to seven units.

Mr. Tong Chong Heong, Chief Executive Officer of Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M) said, "We are pleased to work with GDI again, having successfully delivered two KFELS B Class jack-up rigs to them previously. On top of its newbuilding contracts with Keppel FELS, GDI also sends its rigs for repairs and upgrades at Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine, our joint venture shipyard with Qatar Gas Transport Company.

Customized to GDI's requirements, the new jackup rigs will be designed to operate in the higher ambient temperature of the Middle East. The KFELS B Class Bigfoot is equipped with larger spud cans for reduced bearing pressure and expands its operational coverage in more places, especially areas where soft soil is predominant. GDI's new rigs also feature an enhanced leg design for added robustness.

GDI has been pleased with the KFELS' rig design, workmanship and ability to stay on schedule. Each rig will have a full 15,000 psi BOP system, 75' cantilever outreach and be able to accommodate 150 persons.

EMAS Production is set to take delivery of one of Vietnam's largest Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels from Keppel Shipyard Limited (Keppel Shipyard), on behalf of owner PV Keez Pte. Ltd (PV Keez).

To be managed and operated by EMAS Production, FPSO Lewek EMAS has been chartered by Premier Oil Vietnam Offshore B.V. for the development of the Chim Sáo field off southern Vietnam for six years, with a further option to extend the charter by another six years. The FPSO charter contract is one of only seven signed worldwide in 2009, and is worth approximately US$1 billion.

The project to convert the 168,000 dwt Suezmax tanker into an FPSO was awarded to Keppel Shipyard in December 2009. To date, Keppel Shipyard has achieved a good safety record of over 4.1 million incident-free man-hours for its conversion.

Speaking at the vessel's naming ceremony, Mr. Lionel Lee, Group Managing Director of EMAS said, "Lewek EMAS is our second FPSO project with Keppel Shipyard with whom we have established a win-win partnership. Lewek EMAS is on track for delivery in the second quarter of 2011, and is expected to begin production in July this year.

A joint venture between Ezra Holdings Limited, PetroVietnam Transportation Corporation, EOC Limited and KSI Production Pte Ltd, PV Keez is the first overseas company to secure an offshore Vietnam loan in order to finance the FPSO's conversion.

Keppel has clinched new contracts totaling S$240 million from international customers.

These entail building a new multi-purpose dive support construction vessel for SBM Offshore as well as modifying and upgrading a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel for Petrofac.

Keppel Singmarine will build for SBM Offshore a prototype multi-purpose dive support construction vessel (DSCV) scheduled for delivery in 2Q 2013. This cutting-edge vessel combines capabilities of diving support, subsea construction and anchor handling, and features a DP III (Dynamically Positioned) system.

The DSCV will be equipped with a fully integrated 12-men saturation diving system that enables divers to work safely up to a depth of 300m, and a 250-tonne crane to support subsea oilfield development. It will also feature a 200-tonne double drum winch, four chain lockers and a stern roller for anchor handling functions.

Since 2000, sister company Keppel Shipyard has completed 13 FPSO and FSO projects for SBM Offshore with another four FPSO conversion projects currently underway.

Keppel Shipyard has also secured a fast-track project for the upgrading of a FPSO vessel from Petrofac International (UAE), a subsidiary of Petrofac. The upgrading of the ex-FPSO East Fortune includes refurbishment and life extension works, engineering, fabricating, installing and integrating new topside process modules, upgrading of spread mooring and auxiliary support systems.

Work has commenced in 1Q 2011. Designated for an oil and gas field offshore Peninsular Malaysia, this FPSO facility will be able to handle both oil and gas production.

The above contracts are not expected to have material impact on the net tangible assets and earnings per share of Keppel Corporation Limited for the current financial year.

Keppel FELS has delivered Alpha Star, the second of two DSSTM 38 semisubmersible rigs, to Brazil's Queiroz Galvão Óleo e Gás (QGOG) four months ahead of schedule and with zero lost time incidents.

This continues Keppel FELS track record of delivering its rigs on time or ahead of schedule. It is the third early delivery this year, following the early delivery of the semisubmersible drilling tender, West Jaya, to Seadrill and of the KFELS N Class rig, Rowan Stavanger, for Rowan Companies.

Mr. Tong Chong Heong, CEO of Keppel Offshore & Marine, said, "This is our second safe and early delivery to QGOG and a sterling record for our company. The rig has been chartered by Petrobras for six years to support exploration and production activities offshore Brazil.

Designed to maximize uptime with reduced emissions and discharges, a DSSTM 38 rig is well-suited to handle the operational requirements in the deepwater "Golden Triangle" region, which comprises Brazil, Africa and the Gulf of Mexico.
