BMT Cordah, subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, has been awarded a major contract by Canadian Natural Resources International (CNRI). This project will see BMT provide vital support and guidance for the environmental aspects during two of CNRI's decommissioning projects, both of which are currently in the planning and consenting phase.

CNRI's Murchison and Ninian Northern fields located in the northern North Sea have both been in operation since the early 1980s. To ensure compliance with the requirements of key legislation and regulations set out by the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), CNRI turned to BMT to draw upon its expertise and knowledge of decommissioning projects which includes Shelley, North West Hutton and Maureen Alpha and dates back to 1995.

As part of its support, BMT will develop the necessary documentation to inform project decisions, assess and manage environmental issues and ultimately support CNRI's decommissioning programs submission to DECC for approval. This includes: register of environmental permits, licenses and consents; decommissioning waste management strategy; assessment of energy use and gaseous emissions; drill cuttings pile management assessment; comparative assessment of pipeline and jacket decommissioning options; EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) scoping report and subsequent Environmental Statement.

Building on the launch of its solar enhanced oil recovery (EOR) project with Berry Petroleum earlier this year, GlassPoint Solar announced the award of a contract to build a 7 MW solar EOR system for Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), the national oil company of Oman. PDO, the largest producer of oil and gas in the Sultanate, will use the GlassPoint system at an existing thermal EOR project in southern Oman. The goal of solar EOR is to reduce the amount of natural gas burned for thermal EOR, releasing gas for higher value applications, including power generation, desalination, industrial development and export.

"After extensively researching solar EOR solutions, we've identified GlassPoint as the most promising technology for this pilot," said Dr. Syham Bentouati, PDO Corporate Technology Advisor. "GlassPoint's solar steam generators have the potential to release valuable natural gas for use in higher-value applications within the Sultanate."

The solar EOR facility will use concentrated thermal energy from the sun to produce low-cost, emission-free steam that will be fed directly into PDO's existing steam distribution network. Spanning more than four acres, the GlassPoint system will produce 11 tons of high temperature (312 ˚C), high pressure (1,450 psi) steam per hour. The completed project will be 27 times larger than the GlassPoint solar EOR system installed at Berry Petroleum's 21Z oil field in Kern County, California, USA.

Built specifically to withstand the harsh environmental conditions of the Gulf region, GlassPoint's unique single transit trough (STT) technology encloses lightweight reflective mirrors inside a glasshouse structure to protect the system from dirt, dust, sand, and humidity. In sunny regions, GlassPoint's solution can reduce the amount of natural gas used for EOR by up to 80 percent.

Steamflooding is a well-proven and effective EOR technique, but it requires massive amounts of natural gas to generate steam. Gas scarcity throughout the Middle East puts the region's EOR operations in direct competition with industrial development. Oman, specifically, has experienced a surge of economic growth and industrial development in the past two decades, drawing the country's gas reserves to higher value applications. Using solar instead of gas for EOR would enable other gas dependent industries to continue to flourish.

Farstad Shipping has been awarded the following charter contracts:

AHTS Far Strait, AHTS Lady Caroline, PSV Far Spirit and PSV Lady Grace have all been extended for 365 days while AHTS Far Stream and PSV Far Swan have been extended for 180 days. All vessels are on charter with Woodside in Australia in support of their drilling and/or production operations.

In addition Esso Australia has exercised another 3 month option for PSV Lady Kari-Ann. The vessel will remain supporting Esso's offshore production operations in Bass Strait.

Total value of the contracts is approximately NOK 380 million.

Prosafe has been awarded a Letter of Intent by Interpetroleum Services Limited ("charterer") for a bareboat contract for the Safe Bristolia, and contract extensions for the Jasminia and Safe Hibernia. The three rigs are going to be used at Pemex' Cantarell field in Mexico.

The Safe Bristolia bareboat contract commences mid-May 2011 and ends around end-March 2013. Mobilization and demobilization costs to and from the North Sea are for charterer's account. The total value is about USD 45.3 million.

The Jasminia bareboat contract is extended by 572 days, through to end-December 2012. The value of the extension is about USD 25.7 million. The extension of the Safe Hibernia bareboat contract is 219 days, through to mid-December 2011, and has a value of about USD 11.6 million.

The Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has assigned Wintershall Norge two new licenses in the 21st Licensing Round. Wintershall is the operator of both licences. A total of 24 production licenses were awarded on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS), 12 in the Barents Sea and 12 in the Norwegian Sea. "We are pleased with the results from this round. The Norwegian Continental Shelf is one of Wintershall's core regions, and we are continually building business and commitment in Norway," said Martin Bachmann, Member of the Board of Executive Directors responsible for Exploration and Production.

In June 2010 the Ministry announced 94 licenses for which 37 companies applied. Wintershall received license PL611 in the Barents Sea (in blocks 7223/3 and 6, and 7224/1, 2, 3, 4, 5). Germany's largest E&P company will be the operator with a 40% interest, Faroe Petroleum Norge holds 40% and Petoro 20%. In the Norwegian Sea, Wintershall will be the operator of PL601 in the blocks 6609/3 and
6610/1 in the Nordland III area. The company will own a share of 40%. Rocksource, North Energy and Edison International Norway Branch each hold 20%.

Expro and China Oilfield Services (COSL) in the form of a China based joint venture, CETS, Husky Oil China has awarded the joint venture with a subsea and well testing contract worth in excess of $25 million.

These services will be deployed by Expro and COSL's joint venture, CETS, which is based in Shekou, Shenzhen South China. This service supports the second stage of Husky's Liwan gas field subsea development in the South China Sea. The three-year contract includes a surface clean-up and flow-back package with the ability to flow and measure high gas rates.

Expro's continued support of the joint venture with leading technology and project planning means that CETS is ideally placed to further support the on-going development in the area.
CETS has installed surface equipment to handle the expected high flow rates while supplying Husky with accurate detailed data for further field appraisal. This pioneering work in the deeper waters of the South China Sea presents a number of challenges including readiness to unlatch at short notice during the typhoon season.

Expro's modular process equipment measures the performance of a well with acute accuracy. Testing involves flowing the well through a temporary completion and production system in order to measure flow parameters, and to gather representative fluid samples for analysis. These measurements are used to determine commercial viability, as well as to plan potential future completion and production facilities.

Expro's Express and ELSA in-riser electro hydraulic landing string system will allow the safe installation of all of Husky's subsea completion operations from the assigned DP drilling rig guaranteeing fast and secure well isolation and system disconnect during the critical well clean-up operations and completion deployment.
