TGS has commenced a new 22,000 km multi-client 2D survey offshore Newfoundland in the Labrador Sea in partnership with PGS.

The new seismic data is being acquired by the M/V Sanco Spirit and utilizes the PGS GeoStreamer® technology. Data acquisition will continue through 3Q 2011 and the vessel will return in 2012 to complete the survey. The survey area is north of oil discoveries including Hibernia, Hebron, Terra Nova and White Rose. The seismic survey covers some areas currently nominated in the Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board’s call for bids (NL-11-03).

"It is important for TGS to return to Eastern Canada after a decade and add data coverage in an area where there is little modern seismic data available to the market. Eastern Canada remains one of the most promising deepwater exploration arenas in the world and we are excited to be a part of it," commented Stein Ove Isaksen, Senior VP North & South America for TGS.

Initial data will be available to clients during 4Q 2011. The survey is supported by industry funding.

Shell is seeking Federal Government environmental approval for a small 2D marine seismic survey off the North West Cape.

Subject to approvals the survey is planned to have a duration of around 12 days and to take place during the period from mid-November 2011 to the end of March 2012 avoiding the humpback whale migration.

At closest point the survey will be around 25km from Ningaloo Reef. As detailed in our environmental documentation Shell has elected that the 2D seismic survey will not come within a 10km buffer zone of the Ningaloo World Heritage Area.

The seismic survey is the final work commitment for permit WA-385-P in the current term.

In July 2011 Shell received environmental approval for the Palta-1 gas exploration well in adjacent permit WA-384-P.

TGS has commenced a new 1,000 km multi-client 2D survey in Northeast Greenland in partnership with Fugro.

This survey will enable customers to prepare for the announced Greenland Licensing Round in 2012/2013 and will significantly add to a data set that TGS has been growing since 2008 in this promising region. After this year's data acquisition, TGS will be able to offer approximately 4,500 km of new multi-client 2D data, a large volume of reprocessed multi-client 2D data and full coverage of aeromagnetic/gravity data over the basins that are to be included in the planned licensing round.

The new seismic data is being acquired by the M/V Akademik Shatskiy supported by the ice breaker M/V Fennicia and is scheduled to complete during 4Q 2011. Data processing will be performed by TGS and data will be available to clients during 1Q 2012.

TGS has awarded the acquisition of a 307 mi2 (795 km2) multi-client 3D project located onshore United States. The new seismic program, Firestone 3D, is designed to illuminate the Utica Shale play in Northeast Ohio and aid in the development of this unconventional play. Tidelands Geophysical Services is expected to begin acquisition on the project in 1Q 2012. Data acquisition is anticipated to take seven months.

The Utica Shale is a geologic formation located a few thousand feet below the Marcellus Shale that is characterized by a western oil phase, a central wet gas and an eastern dry gas phase. The new seismic survey is located over the wet gas/liquids rich portion of the Utica Shale. Many see the Utica Shale play as analogous to the prolific Eagle Ford Shale in Texas. The Utica Shale is thicker and more geographically extensive than the Marcellus Shale Trend and has already proven its ability to support commercial production.

"The use of 3D multi-client seismic by oil and gas companies in the development of the unconventional plays in the onshore United States has grown substantially in recent years. We have carefully watched the development of this market and are excited to expand our existing onshore library to include this 3D seismic data," said Robert Hobbs, CEO of TGS. "TGS continues to be successful in diversifying its multi-client library both by product as well as geography," continued Hobbs.

This multi-client program is supported by industry pre-funding.

MEO Australia Limited advises that a contract has been executed with Fugro Multi Client Services Pty Ltd for the acquisition and processing of a 323 km2 3D multi-client seismic survey (‘Zeus 3D survey’) in WA-361-P, in the Carnarvon Basin, offshore Western Australia. WA-361-P is located in close proximity to the existing North West Shelf Gas Project (16.3 Mtpa), the Pluto LNG project (4.3 Mtpa) under construction and the proposed Wheatstone LNG project (8.6 Mtpa).

The 3D survey is designed to enable improved mapping of Heracles and other leads which are potential candidates for drilling in 2014. The survey covers an area of poor seismic data quality and also fills some large gaps in the 3D seismic coverage for this area. In addition, the 3D survey is being acquired in an East - West direction which enables enhanced imaging via multi-azimuth reprocessing.

The 3D survey over WA-361-P is part of a 1,318 km2 multi-client survey to be acquired utilising the ‘M/V Seisquest’ commencing on or about 1st September. The survey will take approximately 7 weeks depending on weather and possible extensions to the planned program. The final processed volume is expected to be delivered during Q2-2012.

The 3D survey brings forward and fulfils the minimum Permit Year 2 (Jan 2012 – Jan 2013) work program commitment of 150 km2 new 3D seismic.

WesternGeco has begun acquisition of the Bjørnøya Phase I "Ice Bear" 3D multiclient survey in the highly prospective West Loppa area of the Barents Sea.

Following previous surveys in the area, the Ice Bear survey will extend the existing WesternGeco West Loppa datasets to the North and West.

"The study area is located on the rim of the Bjørnøya Basin, on the west flank of the Loppa High and includes a large downthrown terrace in the North together with other Jurassic faulted structures, all of which have potential," said Phil Davey, WesternGeco Europe & Africa GeoSolutions manager, "Other, separate, but still promising features are seen in the southwestern part of the survey area."

Building on previous 2D datasets, the Ice Bear survey will consist of approximately 2500 sq km of 3D seismic data, acquired using 10 X 7 km streamers. Advanced acquisition techniques coupled with demultiple processing using the WesternGeco 3D GSMP General Surface Multiple Prediction technology will provide high-quality 3D data.

Acquisition commenced on July 10, 2011, and the fast-track data will be available in November 2011 in time for nominations for the 22nd Norwegian Licensing Round. The final processed data will be available for licensing in March 2012 in advance of the applications for the 22nd Norwegian Offshore Licensing Round. Melrose provided an update on its exploration activities in Bulgaria.

Drilling operations have been completed on the Kaliakra East-1 exploration well on the Galata block in the western Black Sea. The Palaeocene reservoir interval was found to be eroded at the drilled location and the well will be plugged and abandoned.

The Company is now moving ahead with its plans to shoot 500 square kilometers of 3D seismic over the central area of the Galata Block to the north of the Galata to Kaliakra field trend. Three further explorations leads have been identified in this area on regional 2D seismic data and these have combined prospective resources of 130 Bcf and an average chance of success 23 percent. A contractor has been selected to conduct the seismic survey which is scheduled to commence in September.

Commenting on Friday's announcement, David Thomas, Chief Executive, said, "Notwithstanding the Kaliakra East-1well results, the Galata Block remains relatively under-explored and we are looking forward to receiving the results of the 3D seismic survey over the central area of the concession. The combination of low development costs, strong regional gas prices and competitive terms make this one of the very attractive exploration environments for the Company."

TGS has commenced a new multi-client 3D survey in the Faroe-Shetland Basin. The survey covers 2,500 km(2) west of the British Isles over quads 6004, 204 and 205 and is acquired in partnership with PGS.

The new seismic data is being acquired by the PGS Ramform Viking towing 12 X 6,000 m with 75 m separation and utilizes PGS' GeoStreamer Technology. Data acquisition will continue through Q3 2011 and the vessel will return in 2012 to complete the survey. Data processing will be performed by both TGS and PGS. "This is TGS' first investment in a 3D multi-client seismic program west of the British Isles, located in an area with a number of discoveries and further undiscovered hydrocarbon potential," stated Kjell Trommestad, SVP Europe & Russia for TGS.

Polarcus will commence acquisition imminently of a 3D multi-client project over the Bjarmeland Platform in the Barents Sea, offshore Norway. The project, with the potential to cover an area of up to 1,100 square kilometers, is supported through strong industry pre-funding. The survey will be acquired by the vessel POLARCUS SAMUR and is expected to take up to 60 days depending on final program size. Data processing will be undertaken by GX Technology, the imaging solutions group of ION Geophysical. A preliminary dataset will be available within one month after completion of acquisition, with delivery of the final migrated data volume expected to take place within February 2012.

The Bjarmeland Platform 3D multi-client survey, designed in conjunction with GeoPartners and MoVa, targets an area of the Barents Sea currently witnessing a resurgence of exploration interest. The survey is located in the south eastern part of the platform where two small oil and gas discoveries located in blocks 7124 and 7125 on the Nyslepp Fault Complex were drilled in the late eighties by Saga Petroleum. These wells proved the presence of hydrocarbon bearing sandstones with good reservoir properties in the Late Triassic/Early Jurassic formation of the Kapp Toscana Group.

Manas announced the commencement of the second seismic survey on the two Mongolian blocks - Zuunbayan-XIV Block and Tsagaan Els-XIII Block - owned by Gobi Energy Partners GmbH.

This year's seismic survey includes up to 1,700 km of 2D seismic. It covers 10 prospective areas over both blocks, which were identified by our integrated interpretation. The program is laid out in 8 phases without any interruption between the phases; however, some phases show interdependencies. Preparation and mobilization has commenced and the acquisition is expected to begin in mid-August. The seismic work will be conducted with vibrators.

Through its wholly-owned subsidiary, DWM Petroleum AG, Manas owns record title to 100% of the issued and outstanding shares of GEP GmbH, though 26% is held in trust for others. GEP GmbH owns 100% of Gobi Energy Partners LLC ("Gobi"), the Mongolian operator of the oil and gas projects on the two blocks. Gobi signed the agreement for Seismic Services with Sinopec Mongolia, a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec Group), on July 12, 2011. Sinopec has extensive seismic experience in this area. Sinopec offers all services from seismic to drilling and drilling related services. Sinopec will use Sercel equipment for the survey. The total cost of the program, including mobilization and demobilization, is projected to be US $4.2 million. Nine companies participated in the tender.

This seismic survey is being carried out in an effort to improve the quality of existing data and increase the chances of success of exploratory wells the company intends to drill upon completion and interpretation of the new data. The first well is anticipated to be spudded in the second quarter of 2012.

Manas announced the commencement of the second seismic survey on CJSC Somon Oil Company's WEST and NORTH WEST licenses in the Republic of Tajikistan. This program includes up to 774 km of 2D seismic survey, which up to 115 km will be acquired over the WEST license and up to 659 km will be acquired over the NORTH WEST license. An additional 24 km will extend across the Kyrgyz-Tajik border into Manas' Tuzluk license in the Kyrgyz Republic.

Somon Oil, a 90% owned subsidiary of DWM Petroleum AG, signed the agreement for Seismic Services with the Tajikistan branch of the Kazakh company, DANK Scientific Industrial Firm ("DANK"), on June 29, 2011. DANK has extensive experience in the hydrocarbon exploration industry performing seismic work in the larger Caspian region. DANK also performed Somon's seismic survey in 2010. The seismic work will be conducted with vibrators, airguns (a significant volume of the data is to be acquired across the Karakum Reservoir, for the first time), with the remainder utilizing dynamite as a source.

This seismic survey is being carried out to improve the quality of the existing prospect data, and hence increase the chances of success of the exploratory wells to be drilled upon completion and interpretation of the new seismic data. The first well is anticipated to be spudded at the end of the first quarter of 2012.

Santos International Ventures Pty Ltd ("Santos International")., a wholly owned subsidiary of Santos Ltd., has an option to farm-in to Somon Oil pursuant to an option agreement signed between DWM Petroleum AG, Santos International (and others) on December 10, 2007. The Production Sharing Agreement has yet to be ratified and remains one of the hurdles for Santos exercising the option. Prior to exercise of that option, Santos International has agreed to provide preliminary discretionary funding towards the costs of the abovementioned seismic, although binding fully funded commitments are not intended to arise until exercise of the option. Once exercised, it is intended that (subject to further agreement on terms), Santos International will fully fund the seismic survey and that these costs will be credited to the total funding commitments to be agreed.

Somon has also commenced the process of obtaining all required permits to commence drilling operations in the Chkalovsk area (WEST license) as well as in the West Supetau area (NORTH WEST license).

Just after midnight on July 8, the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) started acquisition of seismic data in Norway's new maritime zone in the Barents Sea.

PGS will be conducting the acquisition on behalf of the NPD using the vessel R.V. Harrier Explorer.

This is the first time this area will be systematically mapped. The seismic acquisition activity will continue until the first half of September 2011, with a possible extension of a couple of weeks. The acquisition will be 2D seismic, which means that one long streamer – 8100 meters – is fastened to the vessel. The seismic lines have variable spacing – from 5 to 15 kilometers.

NPD geophysicist and project coordinator Lars Jensen tells us that the sea area to be mapped is quite large. He says that the NPD plans to complete acquisition of seismic data next summer so that the results will be ready in the spring of 2013.

The data acquisition will take place using PGS' GeoStreamer technology. This is a new technology for seismic acquisition, characterized in part by the fact that the streamer is towed somewhat deeper in the water than is the case in conventional seismic acquisition. This means that the cable can withstand higher waves, making the acquisition activity less weather-dependent and thus more efficient.

The Harrier Explorer is coming from Jan Mayen, where the vessel has been shooting seismic for the NPD for about 3.5 weeks. So far, Lars Jensen is pleased with the GeoStreamer technology, and says that the acquisition activity has gone very well and with no weather delays.

The acquisition will start with five SSE-NNW lines. The plan is then to acquire a few lines in the north-south direction in order to complete the southernmost part of the area first.

Daily reports will be issued from Vardø radio stating the position of the seismic vessel for the next 24 hours.

TGS will also reprocess approximately 6,500 km2 of 3D seismic data in the same area to build a combined project of 7,600 km2.

The new seismic data will be acquired by M/V Geo Pacific towing 8 x 6,000 m streamers and be completed in 3Q 2011. Data processing from the new acquisition and reprocessing will be performed by TGS and available to clients from late 1Q 2012. The survey is supported by industry funding.

Electromagnetic Geoservices (EMGS) has signed a contract with Statoil to acquire high-resolution, full-azimuth 3D electromagnetic (EM) data for continued research purposes in the Barents Sea.

The survey will be performed by the vessel Atlantic Guardian using densely sampled receiver grids, thereby providing high-resolution data.

Following the survey in the Barents Sea, which is expected to take approximately twelve days, the vessel will complete its campaign of back-to-back surveys with a work program in the North Sea before heading to the Americas towards the end of July.

Egdon updated on changes to certain of its UK license interests as well as details of a recent seismic survey.

Egdon have reached agreement with Europa O&G and Celtique to equalize working interests across contiguous Petroleum Exploration and Production Licenses ("PEDL") 180 and 182 in the East Midlands. Egdon is the current operator of PEDL182 and will assume operatorship of PEDL180. On conclusion of the transaction, which is subject to approval from the Department of Energy and Climate Change ("DECC"), Egdon will hold a 33.33% interest in both licenses reducing from its current 50%. The transaction provides alignment for the planned exploration program for this area, which contains a trend of oil prone structures including the Broughton oil discovery and Wressle Prospect, which spans the two licenses. A joint 3D seismic survey is planned for later in 2011 to firm up drilling locations for the licenses. It is hoped to drill during 2012 as part of a planned multi-well drilling program in the East Midlands.

Egdon have also reached agreement with Celtique whereby Celtique will acquire a 25% interest in PEDL181 from Egdon, again subject to approval by DECC. Following completion, Egdon will hold a 25% interest. Europa is the operator of PEDL181 with a 50% interest.

Egdon's interests in PEDL180 and 181 were acquired from Valhalla Oil and Gas Limited ("Valhalla") earlier in 2011. The licenses are covered by an Area of Mutual Interest agreement between Egdon and Celtique. Celtique will assume 50% of the consideration to Valhalla. This will comprise the payment of a 10% Net Profit Interest ("NPI") on each 25% interest in PEDL180 and PEDL181 assigned to it by Egdon (2.5% net). The NPI is payable from revenues after recovery of pro-rata exploration, development and production costs.

Elsewhere in the East Midlands, Egdon reported the successful completion of a 13 kilometer 2D seismic program over the Burton on the Wolds Prospect in PEDL201 where Egdon holds a 50% operated interest. The Burton on the Wolds prospect is located on the southern margin of the Widmerpool Basin to the South-East of the Rempstone Oil Field and is a four-way dip-closed prospect associated with an underlying seismic anomaly. Indicative prospective resources are estimated by Egdon at around 1.5 million barrels.

Commenting on the recent developments, Egdon's Managing Director Mark Abbott said, "We are pleased to have reached agreement with Europa and Celtique in relation to PEDLs 180, 181 and 182 and to have assumed operatorship of PEDL180. We are now in a position to operate the forthcoming 3D seismic program and develop plans for drilling on this highly prospective trend with a uniform Joint Venture partnership. The early results of the seismic program over the Burton on the Wolds Prospect look encouraging and we hope will lead to a firm drilling location."

BGP Crew 8615 announced the completion of the S54 2D seismic acquisition contract for Saudi Aramco.

In the 48 months since the commencement of the S54 seismic survey in February 2007, more than fifty thousand kilometers of 2D data were acquired. The work area was located in the desert and far away from the city, which made the logistical support to be extremely difficult. The most challenging issues are the complex terrain and dramatic changes of elevation, which greatly increased operational difficulty.

The effort of all members of Crew 8615, along with the support of BGP headquarters, enabled them to overcome many difficulties during the operation. The crew reached more than six million man-hours without an LTI. Outstanding performance in difficult terrain as well as a commitment to client satisfaction guaranteed BGP's success in this operation.

Gold Oil has signed a Letter of Intent with BGP Geoexplorer PTE Ltd with regard to the acquisition of a marine 3D seismic survey over Block Z34 offshore Peru. The survey is for a total of 500 sq km over the southern part of the license area. As previously announced, the Peruvian Ministry of Energy and Mines has recently approved the environmental permit (PMA) covering Block Z34 for shooting a maximum of 808 sq km of 3D seismic offshore. This initial survey comprises the first phase of 3D seismic over the license and a further (approx. 1,100 sq km) will be required to evaluate the northern area of this large and prospective block.

The vessel, the BGP Pioneer, is currently alongside Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and will mobilize shortly to the operations area. Steaming time to Peru will be approximately 20 days and it is expected, therefore, that the vessel will commence operations, after local clearances, around early July 2011. Total acquisition time is expected to be approximately 30 days from commencement of operations.

Richard Mew, Chief Executive commented, "I am very pleased that we have been able to make such quick progress following our recent placing and gaining environmental permits, in getting a high quality seismic contractor to begin our 3D survey. We expect to finalize the contract terms and to start operations early July. WGP announced the successful completion of the thirteenth Life of Field Seismic (LoFS) survey over the Valhall field in the North Sea.

BP Norge AS, and operating partner Hess Norge AS, have contracted WGP to provide the precisely positioned source sub-arrays necessary to maintain the high level of repeatability required for an effective Permanent Reservoir Monitoring (PRM) project. With the trenching of 120km of Ocean Bottom Cable (OBC), Valhall LoFS began in 2003 with an average of 2 surveys performed per year.

WGP installed Thalassa Energy Services' containerized seismic source system onto the PSV Stril Myster during a 6 day mobilization period in Stavanger. Thalassa's source system is the same design as used on all of the LoFS surveys since the project's inception and thus affords the required level of source repeatability.

Acteon has acquired Aberdeen-based NCS Survey Limited. The acquisition adds to Acteon's capability in the rig-positioning market and provides an additional suite of survey services to clients that operate rigs and vessels.

NCS Survey provides high-precision rig-positioning, construction-support and subsea-visualization services to the global offshore market, including upstream oil and gas and offshore wind. As the market leader in providing surveys through lightweight autonomous underwater vehicle technology, NCS Survey has performed over 600 projects in 35 countries since it was founded in 2005.

The company will retain its existing personnel and management team, headed up by current managing director, Andy Gray.

Gray said, "NCS Survey has enjoyed continued growth thanks to the early adoption and delivery of technologies that deliver tangible benefits for clients. Joining Acteon will enable NCS to accelerate this expansion through the group's international footprint."

NCS Survey joins Acteon's other branded companies, linking subsea services across a broad range of interconnected disciplines.

The transaction, the terms of which are not being disclosed, was completed on May 25, 2011. Acteon enjoys the financial backing of First Reserve Corporation, a leading private equity company in the energy sector. Corporate finance advice to Acteon was provided by KPMG Corporate Finance, Aberdeen, UK. Legal advice was provided by Birketts LLP, Norwich, UK. NCS Survey's vendors were advised by Simmons & Company International and Paull & Williamsons LLP, Aberdeen, UK.
