Coastal's Bua Ban North A-05 Encounters Net Pay

- Coastal Bua Ban North A-05 Encounters Net Pay

Wednesday, September 07, 2011
Coastal Energy Co.

Coastal Energy announced the successful results of the Bua Ban North A-05 well and provides an operations update.

The Bua Ban North A-05 well was drilled to a total depth of 5,650 feet TVD. The well encountered 81 feet of gross sand and 35 feet of net pay in the Miocene reservoir with 27 percent average porosity. The well tested the Miocene reservoir on the eastern flank of the Bua Ban North A field. The oil water contact in the well was seen at 3,770 feet. The results of the A-05 well add an additional 1,200 acres to the structural closure area. The Company is planning to drill five to six additional evaluation wells at Bua Ban North before moving the rig to G5/50.

The Bua Ban North B-02, B-03 and B-04 wells have all been completed and tied into the production facilities. The aggregate production rate from Bua Ban North B is approximately 8,200 bopd. Average production at Songkhla A is approximately 4,000 bopd, with production currently being constrained due to a temperature issue. The Company is installing additional cooling units to remedy this issue and restore production to 6,500 bopd. The installation is expected to be complete in approximately two weeks.

Aggregate offshore oil production is averaging 13,700 bopd, and total Company production is averaging 15,800 boepd.

Randy Bartley, Chief Executive Officer of Coastal Energy, commented, "We are very pleased with the results of the Bua Ban North A-05 well. This well was drilled as far north as possible to test the presence of hydrocarbons between Bua Ban North A & B. We have several locations identified which are further south and up to 200 feet structurally higher which we plan to test with the upcoming wells.

"Total production from Bua Ban North B has come in above our expectations and the wells continue to perform better than expected. We are working to resolve mechanical production issues at Songkhla and expect to restore production to previous levels in the coming weeks.

"We expect production facilities to be on location at Bua Ban North A in late October."

Petro Matad Encounters Hydrocarbons at Davsan Tolgoi Well

- Petro Matad Encounters Hydrocarbons at Davsan Tolgoi Well

Thursday, July 14, 2011
Petro Matad Ltd.

Petro Matad announced that the Davsan Tolgoi-7 well ("DT-7") has reached a total depth of 1,733m in metamorphic rocks below the Tsagaantsav Formation objectives.

DT-7 was drilled as a test of the Uppermost Tsagaantsav and the Lower Tsagaantsav reservoirs of the Davsan Tolgoi Mod Prospect, a fault and fold structural trap consisting of three subsidiary fault blocks.

The well penetrated the Uppermost Tsagaantsav at 1,149m depth, 22 meters high to prognosis. Initial petrophysical analysis has identified three zones of possible net pay totaling 4.8m in thickness and averaging 25% porosity. An additional 18.5m of water-bearing net reservoir with 19% average porosity is distributed between the three zones of moveable hydrocarbons. A similar pattern of alternating oil and water-bearing sandstone reservoirs is common in the Tolson Uul field on Block XIX to the north of Davsan Tolgoi. The three Uppermost Tsagaantsav hydrocarbon zones are being evaluated as candidates for future testing, and additional well locations are being evaluated up to 75m up-dip (higher) to DT-7, where more complete hydrocarbon saturation may be expected.

The Lower Tsagaantsav objective was penetrated between 1,208 and 1,703m depth with minor hydrocarbon saturation at 1,542m depth. 23m of reservoir quality sandstone is distributed between twelve thin zones that average 17% porosity.

Drilling, casing and cementing operations have been completed at DT-7 and the rig has been moved to the new DT-8 location as part of the Company's drilling program to evaluate its inventory of twelve independent prospects in the Davsan Tolgoi area of Block XX.

The DT-8 well is scheduled to be spud today and is located 700m northeast and 38m lower than the DT-5 well that was drilled in June, and 1.8 km south and 80m higher than the Daqing 19-62 oil well in Block XIX. The well will test a stratigraphic pinch-out of the Uvgan Gol paleovalley reservoir between the thin hydrocarbon-saturated sandstones at DT-5 and the thick oil-producing sandstones of the 19-62 well. On further analysis and comparison of data from the DT-5 and 19-62 wells, a secondary stratigraphic trap objective in Lower Zuunbayan sandstones has been identified and the location of DT-8 is well situated to test this objective. Lower Zuunbayan sandstones are the primary reservoirs in the North Tolson Uul field of Block XIX and if productive at DT-8, they will confirm a new play for the Davsan Tolgoi area.

The Company also wishes to give an update on the progress of the planned well-testing program for Davsan Tolgoi. As of today, 135 truckloads of equipment accompanying the workover rig are waiting at the Chinese side of the border post, 150kms south of Petro Matad's Block XX operations. Mongolian national holidays are in progress, and the border point is due to re-open today. Whilst there is a large back-up of cross-border traffic awaiting that re-opening, Petro Matad and its contractor DQE International are confident that mobilization will continue shortly.

The Company is also well advanced in all other aspects of the extensive testing program. Matters such as explosives for well perforation, permits, extended test equipment and international specialists are all either in place or planned.

In other matters pertaining to Davsan Tolgoi, the Company's geo-scientists are currently completely re-mapping the Davsan Tolgoi 3D survey, using a newly processed set of data that adds new definition and clarity to the model. Additionally, data from the drill holes is being added and used in the assessment as it becomes available. This large undertaking is scheduled to be completed by the end of August.

In the immediate vicinity of Davsan Tolgoi, the recently completed 2D seismic lines have been processed, and are currently being incorporated into the previous 2,700kms of survey, ready to be re-mapped. This is expected to add much greater clarity to the areas adjacent to Davsan Tolgoi, both to the east and the west, and enable the generation of new volumetrics, as well as possibly defining drill targets.

Additionally, the Company advises that the 2D seismic surveys over the three sub-basins in the south of Block XX have now been completed and processed. Early processing results indicate similar depths of basins as those in the northernmost parts of Block XX, near Davsan Tolgoi. Interpretation and collation of the entire 1,300kms of new 2D is proceeding.

Petro Matad CEO, Doug McGay stated, "Once again, it is pleasing to note that we have encountered hydrocarbons in our Davsan Tolgoi drilling program and to have the reservoir formations' prognosis confirmed.

"We are methodically working our way through our portfolio of targets in the Davsan Tolgoi area, having so far encountered hydrocarbons in all but one of the seven wells drilled to date. Our management and exploration team note the less-than-resounding results in DT-5 and DT-7 and the dry hole at DT-6, and conclude that is a statistically anticipated outcome of the type of exploration drilling program needed on such a structure as Davsan Tolgoi. Each of the wells has already given us important information that is being used to refine our geologic model, and hence our drill site selection. This should serve us well not only for the continued drilling of our prospect inventory, but also for the ongoing exploration of the remainder of Block XX.

"Progress is being made with the other aspects of the exploration of Block XX, particularly the complex well-testing program. The re-mapping of the newly re-processed 3D survey will also be an important milestone. The area outside of Davsan Tolgoi is also being methodically explored, and we are looking forward to refining our portfolio of leads and prospects in the immediate vicinity, as well as furthering the more grass-roots exploration of other sub-basins."

Gulfsands Encounters Hydrocarbon Columns in Syria

- Gulfsands Encounters Hydrocarbon Columns in Syria

Thursday, June 02, 2011
Gulfsands Petroleum plc

Gulfsands announced that drilling and testing operations have recently been completed on the Abu Ghazal-1 ("AGZ-1") exploration well in Syria. Potentially significant hydrocarbon columns were encountered within the Triassic aged Butmah and Kurrachine formations. However, a series of drill-stem tests ("DST") undertaken on the well resulted in the recovery of sub-commercial quantities of heavy/viscous oil. The well has now been suspended pending detailed analysis of well results.

The AGZ-1 well commenced drilling operations on January 23, 2011, utilizing the Crosco E-401 drilling rig and was drilled to a depth of 3850 metres Measured Depth ("m MD"). The well was planned to evaluate potential reservoirs within the Cretaceous aged Massive and Triassic aged Butmah and Kurrachine Dolomite formations within a large, fault bound structure identified and mapped on 3D seismic data.

The well encountered the Massive Formation at a depth of approximately 2572m MD, but in spite of elevated gas readings observed while drilling, the section drilled at this location was found to contain relatively poor reservoir properties and drill cuttings indicated only traces of oxidized oil and asphalt.

The Triassic Butmah Formation was encountered at 3287m MD with elevated gas readings and traces of oil in the mud system. Interpretation of wireline logs indicated a significant oil column; however no formation fluids were recovered when testing. The lack of any fluid flow from the formation is currently interpreted to be due to low permeability within the reservoir.

The well encountered the top of the Triassic Kurrachine formations at 3456m MD. Substantially elevated gas readings were encountered while drilling through this section and live oil was recovered in coring operations. Interpretation of wireline logs indicated a significant oil column, with subsequent testing resulting in sub-commercial volumes of very heavy to heavy oil (approximately 12 degree API) being recovered along with highly saline formation water.

The Crosco E-401 rig will now be moved to the Khurbet East No. 19 ("KHE-19") well location on the northwest flank of the Khurbet East field. This well is planned as a further step-out from the successful KHE-18 delineation in the northwest, which encountered high quality karst reservoir in the Massive formation. The KHE-19 well will evaluate an area estimated to contain oil-in-place of approximately 30 MMstb and if the well is successful there will exist an opportunity for possible (3P) Khurbet East reserves to be matured to probable and proven reserves categories at year end 2011.

Gulfsands drilling operations in Syria Block 26, using the Crosco E-401 and E-501 drilling rigs, are continuing as planned and have continued without interruption during recent months.

Ric Malcolm, Gulfsands CEO, said, "While we are pleased to have encountered significant oil columns within the Abu Ghazal well, the production test results have been disappointing. We will now analyze all of the data prior to determining the extent of any further operations at this location. The rig will now move on to drilling the KHE-19 well as we continue with our very busy 2011 program of drilling exploration prospects and development wells."

Reef Resources Encounters Oil Pay at Ontario Well

Reef Resources Encounters Oil Pay at Ontario Well

Wednesday, April 13, 2011
Solo Oil plc

Reef Resources reported that petrophysical analysis has been finalized on its Ausable #5 well. Log analysis indicates 72 meters net pay of oil, natural gas liquids (NGL's) and natural gas in the Guelph and A2 formations in Ontario, Canada.

Log analysis in the Guelph indicates net oil and gas liquids pay zone is 57 meters with porosity averaging 9.7%. Evidence of hydrocarbons was evident on core and logs throughout the Guelph formation.

Additionally, the shallower A2 formation was identified as a potential gas producer with net pay of 15 meters and 7% porosity.

The Company will now undertake a work program in order to complete the hole and flow test the well, with the intent of bringing the Ausable #5 well on production.

A comprehensive core analysis will be conducted in the near future to determine cap rock integrity for future gas storage, permeability of the producing zones and provide useful information for the upcoming completion program.

Arnie Hansen, President, stated, "The Ausable #5 well has exceeded our expectations. The log and core results confirm the notion the Ausable reef is an underutilized and undervalued asset. Findings on the Ausable #5 well confirm the Company logic to accelerate the Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) and Natural Gas Liquids program."

Reef will be announcing test results after completion and next development steps in the EOR, NGL program.

The Ausable reef is currently on production and is generating revenue from the initial Enhanced Oil Recovery Natural Gas Liquids Recycling program which commenced in 4th quarter 2010.

Solo Executive Director, Neil Ritson, commented, "These results, with over 70 metres of net hydrocarbon pay, are extremely encouraging and the Ausable #5 well has a high probability of being productive. This result contributes significantly to the field development plan and to the knowledge necessary to successfully optimize the EOR scheme. The well, financed by Solo's participating loan, adds further encouragement that the EOR scheme will be commercially successful."

Aztec Encounters Formations at Tx. Well

Thursday, March 31, 2011
Aztec O&G Inc.
Aztec announced the Welder A-37 was drilled to a total depth of 6,208 feet and encountered multiple formations.

"Utilizing sidewall cores to further evaluate the well's electric log, there appear to be four to five zones of commercial interest in the probable to possible categories," stated Waylan Johnson, President of Aztec Oil & Gas, Inc. Furthermore, he stated, "The A-37 is our second successful well in the area, and we are working on several more ideas in San Patricio County. This county is typical of the type of area in Texas where we are afforded the opportunity to find sizeable reserves shallower than 6,500 feet."

Several Texas Independent Producers have joined Aztec as Partners in the San Patricio County area drilling as Aztec continues its dedication to drilling low-risk, shallow oil wells in Texas.
